First Minister Announces Reforms to Local Government Funding

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced that the SNP is planning significant reforms in local government funding during the next parliament.

This is to include a possible replacement of the council tax, and giving local authorities a slice of income tax. Councils are facing cuts of between £350million and £500million next year.

For more on the proposals, see the Herald and Telegraph for detailed articles.
