Stephen Sweeney

Stephen Sweeney (Finance Manager), President, Scottish League of Credit Unions

Stephen graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1985 with a degree in English and History. He qualified as an accountant with Cargill plc in London and returned to Scotland in 1992 when his oldest daughter was born (he now has two – one undergraduate and one postgraduate!). He has been Finance Director of Campbells Prime Meat Ltd, Scotland’s leading supplier of fresh meat, fresh fish and delicatessen products to the foodservice sector ( since 2002.

Stephen became involved with his local credit union in 1995 and since 2008 has been President of the national trade association, the Scottish League of Credit Unions. He sits on the board of Adopt an Intern Ltd, a very successful spin-out from the CSPP. He joined the CSPP board in 2008 to assist with its financial management. His specific policy interests, such as financial exclusion and the role of co-operatives, have not yet been the subject of any policy programmes by CSPP, but one can always hope...
