Richard Norris

Richard Norris, Director, Scottish Health Council, and Visiting Fellow, Academy of Government, University of Edinburgh

Richard Norris is the Director of the Scottish Health Council, which was established in 2005 to help improve the way that people are involved in decisions about health services and care and treatment. As well as being a champion for patient and public involvement in NHS Scotland, the Scottish Health Council monitors local NHS Boards to ensure they are working with, and listening to, people in their community. As of 2017, Richard is on a one-year visiting fellowship in Public Health at the Academy of Government of the University of Edinburgh. 

Richard was previously Director of Policy at the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH), where he was in charge of policy analysis, campaigns, information, and research. Prior to that he was Chief Executive at the Centre for Scottish Public Policy (it was previously titled the John Wheatley Centre). Earlier to that he worked in the printing and insurance industries.
